A. J. Quinnell’s Man on Fire to be adapted for TV series

The 2004 Tony Scott movie, starring Denzel Washington and based on A.J. Quinnell’s 1980 novel of the same name, became a box office hit and has now been slated for TV.

Screenwriter David DiGilio will pen the script, which finds the central character, CIA operative/ Marine officer-turned-bodyguard Creasy, reconnecting with Pita, the girl he saves in the original movie after going on a revenge rampage after she is abducted in Mexico.  The Fox TV series will pick up 18 years later to dismantle the cartel responsible for ruining their lives.

DiGilio will serve as executive producer on the project, which is being developed for 20th Century Fox Television and studio New Regency. New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Brad Weston and Andrew Plotkin will also executive produce.
